Unit 4: Signposts and Watership Down.

  • Essential Questions:

    • What does it mean to be an engaged, attentive, independent reader?

To be an engaged, attentive, and independent reader is to be able to focus on the specific events and changes in the story. However, readers should use their independent critical thinking to figure out notice and note signpost to answer questions. Anyway, notice and note signposts are contradictions and contrast, memory moment, again and again, tough question, and word of the wiser have an affect on the reader because it improve the reader’s thoughts toward the book by captivate the reader’s attention toward the story. Additionally, it helps reader come to love thoughtful, reflective, engaged reading. It’s important that every reader understand the story deeply by paying attention instead  rushing through the book without using critical thinking. If a reader reads without focus, the result would be worthless on unable to see through the reader’s message and deep part of the story’s events. Particularly, trying to notice a signpost, the readers must be attentive and independent to the text  plus thinking throughout the book. Regarding, it’s reflect the reader’s thought and helps them enjoying the book more because they get to understand the story properly and clearly.

  • What sort of world do you want to live in?

World with  thought and action  is what we will eventually receive as our living environment. Specifically, if we live in a world full of appropriate and equal thoughts and action, this would affect the society of the world we live in. Accordingly, the world will be peaceful if we accept others people’s thought and find its equal. Anyway, in my dream world, I would love to live in a equally and peaceful world. Peaceful world would lead to a better future for everyone because everyone accept each other, which is freedom. Indeed, a peaceful world would be a calm place where there will be no violence occur.

  • What is most important to you: freedom, security, luxury, authority, or power?

The most important to me out of these 5 choices, I would choose freedom because everyone have a right to express their feelings and thoughts. Particularly, true freedom can delighted everyone. Additionally, freedom is the right and capacity of people to determine their own actions. Anyway, I think that people should learn their limits too because if we have too much freedom, it could end up in a disaster by a group of appropriate people. Yet, it’s positive as there will be no pressure among society.

  • What is synthesizing? Does it require higher-level thinking? Why or why not?

The definition for synthesizing is the combination of information into one coherent whole, yet it’s difference to summarizing. Furthermore, synthesis is to make something new by combining ideas to produce new theory. Summarizing is the overview of the topic after reading, basically collecting important information and put into a smaller and simple text. Anyway, synthesis do require higher-level thinking. The reason of that is because we use our critical thinking to new opinion. Higher-level  thinking helps us to recognize the important ideas. As all the important ideas are combine, the result would turn out bigger.

  • How does what you learned in this unit connect to the real world?

In unit 4:signposts and watership Down, I learned about Notice and Note signposts. There are 6 of them including contradictions and contrast, memory moment, again and again, tough question, and word of the wiser. Also, I read the story about rabbits called “Watership down”. Both of these topics i learned in this unit connect to the real world because the signposts was used by readers. Particularly, Watership down was written by Richard Adam and the characters he used was all part of the real world, which are rabbits.

  • Evidence (Images, Essays, Reports, Posters, etc.)

  • Reflection on Evidence

The evidence was about Watership Down with notice and note signposts that was found in the story. My group member include Jenny, Siam and Mia. We have been looking for an good text evidence of signposts that was directly from the book.

  • Learned the Most, Most Interesting, Most Difficult, Most Progress

I think that I learned a lot from this project since I don’t really know about signposts. Signposts help with with reading too including improving my skills of understanding the book deeper. Eventually, the six signposts help engaged me to focus on the text to notice each signpost. From this project, me and my group members are trying to find an effective signposts that would show the example of each signposts. We would focus on finding the best one. I think this attract more audience because its a visual poster.
