Unit 1: Introduction to TinkerCad

Unit Overview/Goal:

The goal of this unit was to create a 3D model of something that is useful or meaningful to me or

someone else. I decided to design  a coaster. To complete this I used a 3D design software called Tinker

Cad. TinkerCad is a product of AutoDesk, which is a software company that makes architecture, enginee-

ring, constructing and manufacturing software. First, I learned the basics of creating digital 3D models

that could be printed on a 3D printer. Then I worked through several tutorials to learn the basics of the

program, and then decide on a final project to demonstrate my skills as a 3D designer.

Enduring Understanding: What are important things to keep in mind when designing 3D models for the real world?

The important things to keep in mind when designing a coaster for preventing water marks on table is to plan and measure the size that will be appropriate size that will fit any kind of glasses and mugs. In my coaster design, I used multiple colors, so we should keep in mind to time the printer to stop for use to change to another color. Also, measuring  the design to be thick enough, so the model can hold each other firmly.

Strengths

Was able to navigate and troubleshoot Tinkercad independently to create final product.

Adjusting the size of the coaster because my first print model was too small to hold a cup/mug.

Mathematical and computational thinking was required to construct product(possibly with assitance)

My first draft of designing this coaster was so too thin, and some aren't connected to others. The mathetical error on the size of the coaster.
